Time Flies
I know I’m not the only person to notice this, but now that I’m middle-aged (nearly 50, as I write this), it really does seem like time has speeded up considerably.
There are never enough hours in the day (although frequent naps caused by our crazy life style, such as providing 24 x 7 hour phone support to our customers, may not help), and it’s got to the point when I sometimes don’t even know what day it is (and I do mean day, not date).
In many ways, it doesn’t matter now that I’ve escaped from the corporate rat race.
I’m lucky that my wife and I can work from home on our online business, and be with our seven dogs all day, every day.
So, we’re always at work, in effect, which enables us to offer the service we want to our customers.
But I digress (again).
I know there’s a theory that time flies when you’re having fun, and drags when you’re bored (and I’ve spent many an hour clock-watching at work in my last job), and this does seem to be true.
What I’m not sure of is why this is the case.
I’m sure Einstein’s Theories Of Relativity have some bearing on this matter, but my knowledge of these is superficial at best.
So, if anybody reading this post has any suggestions on what’s behind this, and what, if anything, can be done to slow things down a bit, I’d be very interested in hearing your thoughts!
