Folder Guide – A Free Tool That Works!
Being a bit of a geek (or is that nerd?), I’ve installed no end of supposedly useful tools and applications on my various PCs over the years.
Most of them turn out to be nothing more than a novelty that gets tired very quickly, and so they get unceremoniously dumped soon afterwards.
But there is one free tool that I’ve had installed on my PC for a few years now, I use it every single day, and it really does save me loads of time, not to mention mouse-clicks!
It’s called Folder Guide, and I think I first heard about it from Chris Pirillo’s excellent Lockergnome newsletter, which I subscribed to many years ago now.
In essence, Folder Guide lets you set up “favourite” folders on your hard drive(s), and then navigate to them almost instantly. It also integrates with the Windows shell, which means you only need to right-click within Windows Explorer and you can quickly access any of your favourite folders in seconds.
And because it integrates with the Windows shell, it’s also available in most File Open and File Save dialogue boxes.
It runs on Windows XP (and maybe other versions of Windows too), it’s easy and quick to install, and the user interface is nice and simple.
For people like me that have files scattered over several drives, including network drives, and in complex multi-level directory structures, this really has been a godsend!
Anyway, don’t just take my word for it – check it out for yourself.
It’s available from many websites, so why not Google it and get your copy today!
